TD Shipley marked their long-awaited return to home turf for the first time since October with a commanding 3-0 victory over Lindfield in a performance full of energy, confidence, and early attacking intent.
TD wasted no time showing their quality, breaking the deadlock in just the 4th minute. A sharp start saw TD Shipley apply immediate pressure, and it paid off as they found the back of the net to give the Shipley ladies team and parents something to cheer about.
In the reverse fixture Abbie Streatfield was POTM and straight away showed why she loved playing against them. The attack started off by Lily Stewart picking the ball up on the left hand side, cutting inside and switched the ball perfectly through the away sides defenders, straight into the path of Abbie streatfield who took a touch on the right hand side and got a bit of fortune from the GK but went in and made it 1-0 rapidly.
Barely a minute later, in the 5th minute, Shipley doubled their lead. Riding the momentum from the opener, they caught Lindfield off guard once again, finishing clinically to make it 2-0 and firmly take control of the game. Abbie getting her second of the game and our second of the game, with a superb finish, TD played forward well, maintaining possession well but play broke down fortunately for Shipley it went out to the right hand side into Abbie who then lobbed the keeper and finished into the top left corner.
With the tempo still high and confidence flowing, TD Shipley struck for a third time in the 7th minute. A relentless opening spell left Lindfield struggling to cope, and Shipley’s attacking quality shone through as they effectively sealed the match within the opening stages.
The 3rd goal came from brilliant play from Lily Stewart again who drove down the left, beating a few defenders 1v1, and squared it across to Kara Murray who finished to make it 3-0 in 7 minutes.
The rest of the half was quite quiet but TD continued to be the better side, and comfortably control the game.
Half Time 3-0
The second half saw TD Shipley take a more controlled and composed approach, managing the game intelligently with their early lead firmly intact. Possession was used well, with the team patiently moving the ball and dictating the tempo, ensuring Lindfield were unable to build any real momentum. Defensively, Shipley remained solid and organised, limiting chances and dealing comfortably with any attacks that did come their way.
While chances were more limited compared to the explosive start of the first half, TD Shipley still looked dangerous going forward, creating opportunities without over committing. It was a mature, disciplined performance that reflected a team fully in control, seeing out the game professionally to secure a well-deserved clean sheet and three points.
