TD Shipley put in a battling performance but were ultimately beaten 2–0 by league leaders Crowborough in extremely difficult, windy conditions.
The first half was a tight and competitive affair, with the heavy wind making it difficult for either side to settle into a rhythm. Both teams struggled to keep possession and chances were limited as the ball frequently held up or ran away in the strong gusts. TD Shipley defended well and kept Crowborough at bay, ensuring the teams went into the break level at 0–0.
Half time 0-0
Crowborough broke the deadlock with a free kick around the 50th minute, although the goal came from what many felt was a very questionable refereeing decision in the build-up. Shipley protested the call, believing it to be harsh, but the decision stood and Crowborough capitalised to make it 1–0.
Momentum shifted to the home side with that goal, and was definitely wasn't deserved as TD were looking the better side throughout.
Shipley tried to respond and continued to battle, created numerous chances and looked likely to grab an equaliser but just couldn't find the back of the net,but Crowborough took advantage and extended their lead around the 65th minute with a well-taken second goal that made it 2–0.
Despite the result, the girls can take positives from a disciplined first-half performance and the effort shown against one of the strongest sides in the competition in very challenging conditions.
