TD Shipley closed out their season with a tough 8–1 defeat against league leaders Crowborough, in what proved to be a game of two very different halves.
The game began at a high tempo, with TD Shipley starting on the front foot straight from kick-off. Moving the ball forward with intent, they quickly created an early chance, putting Crowborough under pressure in the opening moments. That pressure resulted in a corner for Shipley, but they were unable to make it count.
As the ball was cleared, Crowborough broke quickly on the counter, catching Shipley slightly exposed at the back. They drove forward with pace and created a chance of their own, which led to a corner at the other end. From that set-piece, Crowborough capitalised, delivering a dangerous ball into the box and converting to take an early 1–0 lead within the first five minutes.
The first half was an impressive and disciplined performance from TD Shipley, matching the top-of-the-table side across the pitch. The game was evenly contested, with both teams creating chances and battling hard in midfield.
Half Time 1-0 Crowborough
However, the second half saw a complete shift in momentum. Crowborough came out with greater intensity and began to exploit gaps as the game opened up. Goals started to come quickly, and despite Shipley still trying to cause the visitors problems.
In very quick succession as the game came close to an end goals continued to go in and the scoreline went to 8-0.
