First game in 2025, was a clash between TD Girls and Steyning Town.
The game kicked off with an immediate sense of purpose from TD, who showed their class early on with some really good possession football. In the 16th minute, a slick passing move resulted in TD getting a penalty, after a good passage of play down the left hand side Kara Murray crossed the ball in which hit the hand of the Steyning defender. Abbie Streatfield confidently stepped up and rattled the crossbar which then fell into the path of Kara Murray who finished first time into the top right corner.
Shortly after, another goal came as more good play lead to the second goal of the game. Shanna Hall grabbed her first goal of the game from a Lily Bannon assist after some great football in the midfield. A minute later, TD pressed well to capitalize on a steyning mistake in which the ball fell to the feet of Lily Bannon who played an incisive pass into Poppy Hollings who calmly finished past the GK into the bottom left corner.
The game slowed down until half time, with the home side controlling the pace of the game with their possession football.
TD started fast in the second half, with the fourth goal coming in the 2nd minute of the second half. The goal came from just inside the area, from Lily Bannon who latched onto the ball to finish well into the bottom right corner. Minutes later, Amber Minter got her first goal for TD Shipley. Great solo goal from Amber, with some delicate dribbling to beat two players and drove into the box and calmly finished into the bottom corner.
Chances still kept coming but the home side couldn't finish past the GK who performed really well for the away side. But the next goal finally came in the 46th minute, with Shanna getting her 2nd goal of the game, after pressing really well in the final third to gain the ball. The first shot from Shanna was saved but Shanna followed up to tap in to make it 6.
With 7 minutes left off the game, Shanna was able to complete her Hat-trick with another calm and composed finish past the GK. Another superb passage of play down the right hand side from the home side with Kara beating 2 defenders to be able to pull the ball back into the feet of Shanna who was able to finish.
Mila Sullivan collected POTM after an amazing performance. Playing in a different position for the first time, for part of the game and completing some amazing marauding runs down the right hand side with some fantastic crosses to match aswell.
Onto next weekend, where TD Girls are back at home and in cup action. Come on TD!!!
