The dragons have been doing a lot of business in the transfer window and it has put together a top side for the season ahead. TD Shipley Girls u12 start the season off with a thrilling win.

It was clear that both teams were looking to get off to a winning start as both teams started nervously, trying to play their football and trying to figure out what each team were doing. Unfortunately, it was Montpelier Villa who found the net first with a good finish by their striker, but the girls showed desire to get one back. In the 18th minute, TD equalized with some good football on the edge of the box which ended with an incisive pass from Amber Minter who played in Khloe Gundlach who slotted it home with her left foot.

TD slowly started to play their football after the goal and continued to put pressure on their defence but couldn't break past a solid defence. After a couple of chances from TD, Montpelier got the chance to counter attack and made it 2-1 with a calm finish. The TD girls didn't drop their heads and continued to play their football after a goal against the run of play.

Few minutes later, the management of TD made some substitutions to freshen the side up and give Shipley a different dimension by bringing on Poppy Hollings and Lily Bannon. This proved to change the game a few minuted later as more chances persisted and continued to go at the Montpelier GK who seemed a struggle to get past. This changed as, Khloe Gundlach collected the ball down the left hand side and drove infield past a few defenders and slotted a lovely pass into Poppy Hollings who took a touch and struck the ball into the bottom left corner right on halftime.

After halftime, TD came out with the momentum and showed that, as they were playing very good football between each other. Unfortunately, the passes and keep ball couldn't amount to goals. With 10 minutes left and at 2-2, the heart rate had massively increased as Montpelier had smashed a long ball over the top of the Shipley defence with the striker in beyond the defence; but in came Isabelle Hussein who came rushing out of her goal and cleared the ball out just in time. This gave the supporters another gear to cheer on the players, with that support.

With little amount of time left, a goal was coming and it had finally come in the 54th minute with some beautiful football that Kara Murray and Poppy Hollings produced together by playing some pass and move football. Following this Kara Murray, laid the ball into the path of Lily Bannon who hit a thunderbolt from outside of the box straight into the bottom right corner.

This didn't stop there as TD Shipley started to pounce on the away side as the Montpelier heads had dropped with minutes left. The girls pressed high on the defence and stopped the Montpelier Gk playing out from the back, which resulted in a dropkick which fell straight to Kara Murray on the edge of the box who hit a spectacular first time strike on the volley to seal the victory for the home team.

Lily Bannon collected POTM after coming on to change the game by getting on the ball and playing some excellent passes to threaten the defence of the away team. Lily topped off her performance aswell by getting a goal.

Onto next weekend for the TD girls who go to the first away game of the season against Roffey Robins. COME ON TD!!
