TD Shipley played their second game of the season by playing Roffey Robins away, in what was an entertaining 1-1 draw.
TD started brightly and set the standards of the game quick. Shipley got hold of the ball early and played some good football in the middle of the park. Following the great possession football, chances started coming thick and fast. Lily Bannon, Poppy Hollings and Orla Campbell tested the home GK early on in which she dealt with well.
At the other end, Roffey slowly crept into the game by catching TD on the counter attack and forcing Isabelle Hussein into some good saves. TD Shipleys best chance of the half fell to Lily Bannon who forced the Roffey GK into a spectacular save tipping the ball onto the post. The game started to become an end to end match with both teams trying to get that first goal.
The home team took the lead in the twentieth minute following a good pass in behind the Shipley defence which fell to the Roffey number 9 who finished into the bottom left corner. Eventhough this happened TD girls maintained positive and still tried to play their football and create chances until the half time whistle.
The second half started slowly with both teams trying to settle back into the game. Chances were fast approaching as Maddie Tomlinson hit a good strike from 25 yards out but couldn't find the target. Shipley were gaining momentum and putting the home team under a lot of pressure.
The breakthrough for TD happened in the 42nd minute, Amber Minter collected the ball in the middle of the pitch and played in a pass to Kara Murray, who had 2 attempts at goal; one in which was blocked but fortunate to fall back to her, and the other she took calmly by slotting it into the bottom corner of the goal.
Shipley kept the pressure up, and with few minutes spare they kept the Roffey defence in their own half. Mila Sullivan drove down the right hand side several times and put in some teasing crosses but unfortunately wouldn't fall to a TD player. Moments left the home team caught the away side with a nice pass down the left flank into the Roffey number nines feet who drove towards the goal but was halted by Orla Campbell who covered really well.
Kara Murray went home with POTM after terrorizing the home sides defence with some silky skills. She also scored the equalizer that gained TD a point.
Onto next weekend, for TD girls who are back at home against Crawley&Maidenbower Panthers in which will be a tough game. Well played TD!
