Dragons Battle to the final Whistle

Dragons Battle to the final Whistle

Neil Mackey-Fitzsimons23 Mar - 16:52

Arundel show how clinical they are

After last weeks high intensity double header, the boys found themselves in another one today, this time away against an Inform Arundel side.

Our squad was a bit depleted today with sickness working its way through the team meaning we only had 13 for both games today.

Oliver, Cam, Toby, Dean & Lewis B started at the back with Lewis W, Jack , Big D and Harley filling out the midfield. Kieron and Sam lead the line today with Ethan and Freddie O on the bench.

Today's plan was to start strong and hold firm, learning how Arundel would approach the match and then take the games from there.

The first 18 minutes was absolutely solid from the boys, holding firm and battling across the pitch before getting unlucky with a few chances up the other end. Arundel's keeper pulled off a good save before they went up the other end and put in some dangerous balls.
Arundel's number 21 was running the show for them, picking up the ball in pockets and also launching long throw in's into the box.
He got the first goal on 22 minutes right before the half after a good run and finish.

HT Arundel - 1 v TD - 0

A quick turn around in the break with the boys being positive despite being a goal down. Only one change at the half with Ethan coming in for Lewis B at the back.

A slow start in the second half and a switch off from us at the back lead to a high ball bouncing through and their striker poking home 5 minutes into the half.

We tried to step it up from here and take the game back to Arundel but they defended in numbers. Kieron made way for Freddie to rest up his heel after taking a late challenge from behind while running through on goal.

Shortly after Arundel went up the other end and put the game to bed with the 3rd after another lapse in concentration.

FT - Arundel - 3 v TD -0

A tough first game but we deserved something out of the first half, just shows the levels of teams we are against that they can turn 3 shots on target into 3 goals.

MOTM- Cam S - A strong display from Cam at the back, Working well to keep the line and play out from the back as much as possible. Very Vocal in the first game and worked to gee up the boys.
