7 Star TD Bounce Back In Style

After a poor run of results for the boys, something that was brand new to them, we wanted to see if they could bounce back with a decent performance and boy did they!

A cold, wet Mother's Day and it needed a strong showing from the boys to send the TD Mum's Mafia home happy!

Nigel started a strong team with Freddie H in goal, a back 3 of Cam, Ethan and Dean. A midfield of Dorian, Jack, Lewis and Stephen and a front 3 of Kieron, Sam and Freddie O.

The boys got off to a blistering start, Attacking well down both wings and through the middle. They showed some great passing prowess with Cam, Jack, Dorian and Ethan getting involved and getting the ball down.

Some fantastic saves from the Withdean keeper and some strong defending from their no 99 Cb kept the game at 0-0 for longer than it should of been.

Sam, Kieron, Dorian and Stephen were running wild down the wings and that was were the goal was going to come from.

With just under 20 minutes on the clock, Sam's brilliant running won us a corner. Stephen stepped up and whipped in a fantastic ball into the middle of the area to be met by Dean, who caught the ball calmly on the half volley and fired past the keeper to make it 0-1!

This seemed to deflate the Opposition and get our boys fired up wanting more. Within 4 minutes we had our next goal.

A great bit of work down the right from Cam to win the ball back was followed by a ball across the pitch to Lewis. Dorian had switched wings over to the left and Stephen on the right and this is where the goal came from. Lewis picked it up and played a quick 1-2 with Dorian before clipping in a beaut of a ball over the top of the Withdean defence and Keeper with Stephen coming in at the back post to meet it with his Gut, with the ball bouncing off him into the back of the net. 0-2

Within 2 minutes we had our next goal and it all started from Freddie H at the back playing the ball out to Cam in the RB spot. Stephen dropped to pick the ball up off of Cam before turning 2 players and hitting the afterburners on and driving down the right wing before looking up and spotting Freddie O making a fantastic run with him. Stephen clipped a pass into Freddie with the outside of his left foot and Mid run, Freddie adjusted his feet before hitting a brilliant first time shot across the keeper with venom into the bottom left corner. A wonderful finish for Freds! 0-3

The boys were on top form at this point and were playing brilliant football all across the pitch, winning every tackle, playing some otustanding passes and creating chance after chance.

Kieron was getting Joy down the Left channel with Dorian there and Lewis playing just behind them. Dean won a brilliant Header with 2 players on him knocking it down into the path of Lewis. Lewis turned his man and looked up and played a delightful through ball into the path of Kieron, Who took a touch past his marker before lifting the ball deftly over the onrushing keeper into the far corner. Beautiful finish! 0-4

HT- Withdean- 0 - TD - 4

As the second half started, Nigel made 3 changes, Harry O and Stan P came into the midfield 2 for Lewis and Jack and Mase came in on the left for Stephen.

We picked up where we left off in the first half and it was another blistering start and it was the wingers that were causing issues again. Mase was linking up well with Dean and Dorian and Cam have their great understanding.

Ethan won a header from a long ball and knocked it down into the path of Harry who turned his man before playing it into Mase. Mase drove with the ball before whipping in a great cross into the path of Sam who leapt highest in the box and buried the header into the back of the net! 0-5 with only 2 minutes played in the second half.

Stanley P and Harry O were winning every ball that was coming their way in the midfield and were doing their best to switch the ball into space with some great passes out to both wings. Less than 5 minutes later it was another goal, this time a pass cut out by Stan who took his time, Turned out and played it back into the path of Cam who looked up and played another great through ball pass into the path of Dorian. Big D took the pass on the half turn before beating his player and firing a wicked shot into the roof of the net past the Keeper- 0-6

The boys kept attacking and Sam, Freddie and Kieron didn't stop running and doing their best to create opportunities for the boys.

Withdean's keeper was keeping the score down, pulling off some fantastic saves.

With just over 55 minutes on the clock the boys got their final goal with style. Cam and Ethan did really well at the back to clear up a long ball before playing a great little pass into Harry. Harry took his time on the ball and played a great little 1-2 with Stan P before playing a little pass to Kieron between 2 defenders for Kieron to hold them off and finish again with another brilliant little dink over the onrushing keeper. 0-7

The boys continued to create chances but Withdean's keeper and a few wayward shots kept the score as is.

MOTM- Cam Shaw- Probably his best game of the season, Looking assured, calm and doing his best to start attacks for the team while doing a great job defensively. Well Done!

A great win from the boys and hopefully the start of a great run to finish the season out.
