After a humbling performance against Southwater Royals TD needed to bounce back quickly against league leaders Wescott. It was always going to be a hard ask with 7 key players out or not at full fitness due to injury.
The Dragons start well with some good passing combinations moving the ball around well. TD kept tidy at the back and were looking hard to breakdown. TD's big man up top Manny was bullying the opposition centre backs in the early parts of the game and they were unable to contain him as he put the dragons 1-0 up. Shortly after Collins was forced off with a head injury.
Wescott with a point to prove went on the offensive and managed to finally score after TD held them off for 3 corners but failed to clear. With the game level there was a lot of end to end play and just before half time Wescott put them selves ahead with a good finish from outside the box squeezing past debutant Mark in goal.
The second half started much the same as the first with TD looking strong. But they were unable to equalise. around the 60 minute mark the dragons came close to making it level but after 3 attempts and 3 goal line saves it wasn't to be. from this point things seemed to turn in favour of Wescott with the dragons heads down.
The score line flattered the victors but the dragons will need to work on their resilience and fitness when being a goal down. Looking ahead to their next fixture the Dragons will want to pull together and start leaving everything out there on the pitch as they will know they are far better than the result suggests. Good teams know how to bounce back and be resilient, and that is what they will need to do.
The Dragons can only hope the gaffer doesn't force them to do running drills in training this week...
