Mighty Reds Thrash Brockham

In a match deemed as the first real test of the season Brockham were dispatched in the opening 30 minutes.

TD started slowly but that can be the only criticism in an otherwise dominant display.

Good work down the right saw Ben C-S, Thiago and Shane linking well to win a throw high up the pitch - Ben C-S then caught the Brockham defence off-guard with a long throw to the near post and Abid headed home.

5 minutes later the scoreline was 2-0 after a TD corner (delivered by Lewis Oliver) Fitz connected sweetly on the volley from just inside the box, the ball flew through the crowd of players and into the back of the net.

TD dominated the play from here on in and Brockham were evidently shook across the pitch from what was happening.

The 3rd and final goal of the first half came from an instinctive first-time-pass from Lewis into Abid's path and he was well away from the sluggish defence, coolly slotting the ball beyond the keeper for his 2nd of the game.

A great save from Chris Hatton kept Brockham from scoring - the Brockham player hit a dipping shot from 25 yards which was creeping in just under the crossbar but Hatton managed to backpedal quickly and somehow to parry it over.

Brockham were buoyed by their chance late on in the half and started the 2nd half brighter, forcing Hatton into another fine save - a cross came in and a Brockham player headed it towards goal but Hatton's reflexes were sharp as he pushed the ball onto the post and then gathered it.

TD were under some pressure but coped well in the 4-5-1 formation; set up to withstand attacks and then play the ball out and use the pace on the wings which worked to it's desired effect for the full 90 minutes.

Brockham were throwing everything at TD to try and get back in this game but TD were too quick, too strong and too clever.

In the 75th minute Joel Basson managed to turn well while on the ball in the middle of the pitch and play an incisive pass which sent Shaggy through on goal - he placed his finish into the bottom left of the goal to end any hopes Brockham had of getting back into this game.

For the remaining 15 minutes it was all TD and just a case of how many The Dragons would score.

Shane Smith who had worked hard up front got his due reward as he met a corner (swung in by Abid) near the back post and headed back across goal to find the top corner.
