TD Shipley 3s earned their first win as a squad with a strong pre season performance against an ever improving Southwater 3s.
The team have shown continuous progression during pre season against teams from the leagues above and on saturday where able to put together a winning performance with everyone in the match day squad showing the levels required to win. In particular, Wardy and Marky put in strong performances, with both players showing plenty of energy and quality on the ball.
After a slow start TD began to move the ball around with fluidity, with ten minutes to go before half time Ben put a superb cross in from a free kick which was met by an accurate header from Dan. After half time TD began to move the ball with purpose in the final third, and missed a number of opportunities to extend the lead. The lead was finally doubled when Bubbs put a deep cross in from a free kick which was deflected passed the goalkeeper by one of his own players, not the type of goal TD had planned but well deserved. In the final fifteen minutes of the game TD failed to clear their lines properly and Southgate scored a fortuitous goal from a deflected shot, a disappointment for the defence who had marshalled the game well.
On to the next pre season game, and continuing to improve!
