The Dragons started brightly against a Barnham side who had WON every game they had played this season. Pressing all over the pitch and forcing the Barnham players to make mistakes.

Alfie Smith solid in goal sweeping up any Barnham through balls and handling very tidily. Harry, Blu and Ed all strong and determined with maximum concentration throughout. Hayden using the ball brilliantly and Jack pressing his full back. Our midifeld trio of Seb, Dicko and Joe working their socks off up and down throughout.

Barnham did score a decent goal, very good strike but the Dragons had their chances as well. The Barnham GK dropped a ball over his head and the goalline technology didn't beep the ref's watch on this occasion :-) and TD also had a good chance for a penalty waved away so we could have been better than 1 down at half time.

HT: 0-1

Frankie and Derrick were added to the mix in the 2nd half and both worked as hard as the boys who started TD continuing to stiffle the Barnham attacks and TDs counter attacks causing Barnham some problems.

As the game passed on the Barnham boys got deeper and deeper and TD started to create chances and get corners.
With 10 mins to go Jack prodded across to Derrick who poked home the equaliser to spark celebrations for the Dragons.

As the clock ticked down Derrick had another chance but this time the ball rolled the wrong side of the post with only 1 minute to go.

FT: 1-1

In the first period of extra time the Dragons continued to work their socks off covering so much ground per boy. Every player digging deep to use every ounce of energy they had.

In the 2nd period of extra time the Barnham attackers broke free of the tiring Dragons and scored the goal that effectively killed the tie, then adding a 3rd to seal the deal but the spirit and effort of the Dragons can't be underestimated and the boys and spectators will remember this game for a long long time.

We couldn't have asked any more from our Dragons this week and each of them can stand tall and be very very proud of their performance this week.
