The Dragons played their first ever County Cup game and didn't disappoint. The boys played with passion and a deep desire to win the game.
Ferring played some good football at times and were a very good side but the Dragons had more firepower and they made it count.
After good play down the right Jack crossed into the box and Frankie stabbed home to continue his fine goalscoring form at the start of this season. Chances were created fo both sides but the defences both stood firm.
After a set of subs, Derrick on debut picked up the ball in midfield played a 1-2 with Ashden then drove into the box and lashed home for a debut goal with his 2nd touch, what a start!
The 3rd goal was a stunner, Seb driving home from outside the box over the helpless keeper a fantastic strike.
HT: 3-0
The Dragons have let first half leads slip before and so we had to be careful, but the same old mistakes happened again and Ferring were next on the scoresheet. Missed tackles in midfield and opposition driving through our middle allowed chances for Ferring but even though we let them have chances we kept having chances too.
Ashden grabbed a super 2nd half hat-trick bursting clear to finish off some good team goals but Ferring kept fighting back and only when Frankie grabbed his 2nd which put us 6-3 up with time running out did it feel like the game was won.
FT: 7-3
MOM: Ollie C - Some great saves, good distribution and general good keeping today.
