A trip to Cowfold in the cup looked every bit a possible banana skin. Cowfold flying high at the top of Div 1 and TD looking for some consistency. On arrival TD found a pitch in immaculate condition, Instant smiles spread across the players rosy cheeked faces and the gaffers knew Cowfold were bang in trouble.
The game plan was pretty simple. Get caveys 100th goal, win the game and give Deano,s mince pies a treat.
Within 5 mins, TD were awarded a penalty and up stepped Cavey, the bench were on tender hooks and the boys held their breath but the coolest man in the village slotted home with ease and phase 1 of the match day was complete. Cowfold tried to compete and left the foot in here and there, this had little effect as TD met fire with fire and the pikey Pirlo soon sorted that nonsense out. TD unphased by the attempted bully boy tactics started to take control, Cavey was pulling the strings, Jamal taking liberties. It wasn't long before Cavey assisted Mario who's scoring ratio is starting to reflect in his game and show why he's forced his way back into the 9 spot. 20 mins gone 2- 0 and Deano suitably impressed with what he was watching. TD started to rush the work and look a little ragged, a reminder from Acton "control" "control" flicked the boys back into mode and cursed the half out HT- 2-0

A few words at half time to insist on calm, control and the importance of concentration allowed the TD boys to start the second half just like the first, As the half progressed the domination TD were showing started to suck the life out of Cowfold. For 20 mins Julien become untouchable, his right back was seen doing the moonwalk as Julien sent him well past the shops. Toby was rinsing the left back on the other side and you see him looking for a way out. Toby could have bagged 2 or 3 assists if it wasn't for some outstanding saves and some wonky finishing. It wasn't until the 70th min that TD grabbed the 3rd off of Alfie's face who was the last to realise he had scored. Cowfold lost their mind as they felt Gary had held the keeper, luckily for TD, where the ref had missed every dirty tackle and stamp from Cowfold he missed Garys cunning assist. At this point Cowfold were hoping for the final whistle and sausages at the Hare and hound. TD were not done and were relentless. The gaffer felt sorry for the Cowfold right back and gave Julien a rest only for Leon to turn him inside out . On the 75th min Mazza turned provider as Gary got off the mark. Cowfold responded with some clever little play to stop TD getting the clean sheet they looked nailed on for, over the course of 90 mins Bubbs, Acton, Truelove and Alf had played with complete dominance so it was disappointing for them to not see it through. 4-1 It was rinse and repeat on the 88th min as Mazza set up Gary for his second. 5-1 phase 2 and 3 complete. Gary will still be scratching his head as he found the only bobble on a carpet of a pitch to miss out on his hattrick.

The Cowfold gaffer must have been bang on the manure as he said it wasn't a 5-1 game. The TD gaffers response was swift.. your right mate it should have been 8. A good pitch brings out the best in these boys. Everyone played their part. A mention to the midfield boys who played like conductors of an orchestra. A Good day to be a dragon, into the quarters we go.
