So good we beat ourselves

So good we beat ourselves

Stuart Powell28 Sep - 09:15

We can only get better

Dragons greens pitch was looking green and vibrant on this sunny autumn afternoon. Itching for some top quality football that had been sorely missing on the summers dust bowl.

The early exchanges were positive for TD as they moved the ball around with purpose showing better technical ability and an assured confidence. It looked like one way traffic and Billinghurst manager said afterwards he thought they may be in for a hiding. Borer,Jamal and Josh had complete control of proceedings . The excitement for TDs management didn't last long as Billinghurst broke on td on the 10th min. a shot which deflected twice wrong footed Dan Lake and nestled in the back of the net. A quick reminder in this league if you slip just a little you will be punished and so it was 5 mins later TD 2-0 down against the run of play. The rest of the first half was all TD , a goal disallowed dubiously . Mario, Toby Julien all going close. Julien ran Billingshurst right back ragged and I'm sure he was looking for the exit. TD created plenty of chances` but the rub of the green wasn't there and ultimately were not clinical enough.

HT 0-2 against the run of play

Billinghurst changed formation at half time to match up to TD as Borer,Jamal and now crocker were in complete control , The Billinghurst change made no difference to the pattern of play as once again TD looked the better team. TDs waves of attack lead to a corner,. A beautiful left footed in swinger meet by Dec 1-2 game on.
TD should have carried on in the same vain but looked like they stepped off the gas and once again allowed Billinghurst to score 1-3
It was evident when TD are at it they are a force to be reckoned with , too many times though they rest or stop concentrating and get punished for poor decisions or sloppiness.
TD s main problem was the strikers didn't want to fill the box!!!!! Mario was given a flea in his ear about his position and within 2 mins of being where he should be he got his reward and scored. once again TD were on the front foot and looking the most likely to score. once again we rested and allowed a free header at the back post to paddy who miss headered and nosed it bottom corner a calamity of errors through out the team with basic errors which could easily have been avoided lead to Billinghurst regaining the 2 goal advantage, TD seem hell bent on making life hard and beating themselves.
The 5th goal in the final minute is best left alone. It allowed Billingshurst a score line that flattered them.

TD need to get out of this funk as zero points and bottom of the league does not represent the talent on show.

Gaffer said " the aim of this season was mid table and a cup final, both still very much achievable, we need to turn performances into results, and learn to be just as good without the ball as we are with it."

Julien on debut gave balance on the left Jamal was brilliant and improving game on game however Mr dependable showed what he was all about. MOM Jamie Borer.
