Pritchard's late, late show

Stuart Powell14 Apr - 09:58

1 down 2 to go

TD arrived at the home of Horsham Crusaders ,The Roffey Club, at a slightly later than usual time. The sun had ,had its time and there was a slight chill in the air. The players walked the pitch for an early indication of what was to come and ankle breaker was probably the best suited description of a rutted uncared for pitch. A leveller some might say to stop TDs ballers playing the beautiful game .

The early exchanges showed TD were very much looking to get this over and done with as quick as possible. Both wingers pushed high and wide looking to be released by Murph or Borer ,Unfortunately the duo couldn't get there foot on the ball and dictate play as they would have liked too. Horsham were being very busy and with TD s second touch generally being a tackle due to the poor state of the pitch it gave Horsham some encouragement. Horsham only looked dangerous on the break as Bubbs pushed on to support the wingers and there was room behind . The experienced Acton and Shane soon cut off this supply line as they shuffled across to give TD a back 3 allowing the ever advancing Bubbs to continue and not have to change the attacking intent of TD. TD used Tony Garrord well when they trusted him ,But again some of his clever intricate play was stifled by the pitch. Tony is generally a step ahead of the opposition as well as his team mates once the TD boys catch on it will be a frightening attack.

TD made 4 changes on the 30 min mark and the Nick pritchard late, late show began. it took 4 mins for Nick to set up Senra and a wave of relief and confidence was seen in the TD boys. Nick who was put on corners and free kicks as Charlies kicking would be kept in the TD box due to TDs cat having a dodgy knee. This was also requested by Mr Redley and you could see why as everything delivered by Nick was like a Tesco express straight to the fridge. As it proved on the 52nd minute as the duo combined to make it 0-2. TD were starting to take complete control. The ref missing 2 stone wall penalties on Leon and Shane. and making too much noise as he obviously felt he should be the star of the show. With that in mind TD lost concentration as they battled the ref rather than Horsham. TD conceded a free kick which was taken, miss kicked looped over Charlies head, hit the stantion then unknowing Alfies head the post and in . 1-2.

For the next ten mins the game looked in the balance until Nick found Leon ,with his third assist of the game, Leon at the back post happily nodded it home. 3 in 3 for the winger who's looking like he's been with the 2s all season. Horshams bubble had burst and they just wanted the season to be over. Copey back from injury had a 15 min cameo and looked lively at RB , He too was poleaxed in the box and for a hattrick of poor decisions the ref waved it away. obviously feeling very charitable to the crusader boys.

It wasn't a vintage performance by any stretch of the imagination from the TD boys. The final minutes showed how TD have grown over the season and with Shane,Acton,NIck and Senra's experience manged the game out perfectly. The aim of the away side was 3 points nothing else mattered . it was delivered. 2 games remain and promotion is in the hands of this team as they are the masters of their own destiny.

Rudgwick next week as TD look to take their good form on the road once again another 3 points will be demanded

Once again plenty of good performances all around, Nick will take MOM for 3 assists and getting control of a game on a very demanding pitch

MOM Nick Pritchard
