Mazza magic

Red mist at Dragons green

A glorious day at Dragons green, Sun shining ,shorts and sunnies out and a mild whiff of sun screen in the air.
It would be TD's first encounter with Capel this season as well as TD's last home game. Capel travelled with a reputation of being bully boys with two left feet and so it proved. Capel also seemed to think the game was played with elbows as Sayif , Murphy and the Cat will tell you all about.

As the game kicked off TD were buzzing and were well up for this one, the Gaffer had asked for the lads to be on the front foot early and Deano made sure of it as he got the boys firing in the warm up. Capel looked as if they didn't want to be there , as the ever improving Leon was set free by master passer Borer on the 7th minute it was 1-0 to the home side. TD relaxed and were happy to dominate the ball and take the foot of the pedal slightly. Capels frustration was evident to see as late tackles , elbows , pushing became there go to. On the 13th minute TD player Leon fouled the Capel right back and was thrown to the floor for his efforts and dually stamped on by Capels number 7. An early bath for the lad who got far to excited as the sun must have gone to his head. Capel down to 10 men didn't change tactics much as foul after foul continued. TD did very well not to rise to this, Murphy came at them fair and hard something the bully boys were not used to as they looked to "do" him every opportunity they got. They just could not catch the wily midfielder. A few opportunities came and went for the home side ,Bubbs miss placed shot was too powerful for everyone as Harry.p couldn't tap it in back post , Jerome pulled out a great save from the Capel goalkeeper, Gary Pricthard was on the goal line and just had to poke it home but must of felt for Capels miserable defence and cleared it instead. It was down to Tony Garrod to get the second. picked out by Jerome he bamboozled the defender twice and slotted home calmly.

TD 2-0 half time

The message was clear to the TD boys stay concentrated at the back and get the clean sheet whilst keeping the intensity high so as to not let Capel have any whiff of a chance. For the 3rd week running the TD boys delivered on the Gaffers HT team talk.

Capels Number 8 was throwing his weight around second half trying to effect the game , head locking Harry.p , how the ref missed that one much to the disgust of the TD bench we'll never know. However once he went toe to toe with TD's dog of war there was only one winner , murphy smiling as Capels number 8 lost his head and was sent for an early shower as well. TD with a two man advantage dominated the ball but at times were not sure if to push everyone or leave men behind in a situation that isn't very familiar to them.
Sayif was now really staring to purr as he sent player after player, through numerous times, Because of this he started getting the treatment for his troubles off Capel and once again the ref let it go, A two footed challenge that should of been a hattrick of reds for Capel missed.
On the 70th min Jack gave the ball to Mario who turned and from just outside the box curled a delightful shot into the top corner a moment of magic from the little man. Gary who had missed so epically in the first half was giving Capel night mares, he was doing everything right but it was one of those days, Harry.p crossed one for him , he scuffed one. It was his experience that meant his head didnt drop as he turned provider with a cheeky little pass to set Mazza up for his brace.
Mazza should of got the hattrick but Capels goal lead a charmed life. All 16 players from TD played well as mom nominations were spread across the board, Sayif, Borer, Gary.P, Mario, George and Murphy.
Jerome cruised through the game as expected , The back line led by Truelove had little trouble .

Mario takes MOM on this occasion A great display from TD against a team that really didn't want to play
