TD Shipley 4–2 Westfield Reserves
TD Shipley welcomed unbeaten Westfield Reserves to Dragons Green for a thrilling Sussex Intermediate Cup 3rd Round tie. With both sides boasting perfect records in all competitions so far this season, something had to give — and it was Shipley who rose to the occasion.
The opening exchanges were tight, with both teams showing their quality. The breakthrough came in the 43rd minute when Max Furber reacted quickest to divert Adam Campbell-Stone’s effort goalwards, wrong-footing Smith in the Westfield goal. Shipley led 1–0 at halftime.
Furber doubled his tally just ten minutes into the second half. Westfield keeper Nathan Smith fumbled a corner, allowing Furber to tap home from close range and make it 2–0.
The hosts were flying, and in the 65th minute Ollie Broad calmly slotted past Smith after a clever assist from Adam Campbell-Stone, extending the advantage to 3–0.
Westfield mounted a quick response — Dylan Phillips pulled one back with a stunning strike from distance in the 67th minute, before Matt Darby added another four minutes later to make it 3–2 and set up a tense finale.
However, Shipley weren’t to be denied. In the 78th minute, Adam Campbell-Stone restored the two-goal cushion, finishing off a neat move started by Kyle Johnson, who drifted in from the right before cutting the ball back for Adam to tap in.
TD Shipley held firm in the closing stages to seal a 4–2 victory and book their place in the next round of the Sussex Intermediate Cup. Next week, the Dragons are away to their fierce local rivals, Southwater FC.
